Pre-Heresy Deathwing Librarian

Hey everyone. Recently completed another Crusade era Loyalist Dark Angel Terminator. This one is a Librarian. Now Fluff aside about Librarians in Legions, I wanted to include a full command staff in my collection. I am happy with how he turned out.

I gave him 2 of the DA dreadnought leg plates with the scroll work as it fits the theme.

The head is a Maxmini helmet and the legs are from Microart Studios. I think they work well to make the model stand out.

Pre-Heresy Deathwing Chaplain

Hey everyone. Thought I would post this guy up here as I finished him the other day. Basically I decided to relaunch my Deathwing as Pre-Heresy as I do love how the terminators were don in the artwork for it. I do also like the looks of Pre-Heresy Dark Angels even though it is just black. I'm starting from new with new models so the Dark Angels I have already will stay post heresy in there cool green, black and bone colors. The First Model I did for the new Crusade era Deathwing is a chaplain because the model is fantastic.

So there he is. I am happy with how he turned out overall. His Parchment loin cloth thing turned out better then I thought it would. The shoulder pads are Ironclad Dreadnought leg plates. The Crozius arm is a Thunderhammer arm with the hammer head removed and a dark angel bit added to the top. The combi-bolter is from the terminator librarian blister and the arm its attached to is a stormshield arm. Some greenstuff work to make the two mesh was required.

I highlighted the armor with Dark Angels green. I saw this done before and I really liked it so I tried my best with it. I kept the edging/highlighting dark. Also The pictures aren't the best. I am making an effort to clear some space and set up a mini wanna be photo booth for the miniatures. That will take some time though.

Now I know that the model has an imperial eagle on it in the back and I left it. Maybe he was given an honor by the emperor during the crusade? Who knows. Also there are 2 little crux terminatus type crosses on him. As they are not the standard Crux in look I figured these Templar type crosses would be fine to leave. And as for the combi-plasma... well they are the first legion and plasma has been seen in the novels and art work so its not unreasonable.

That is it for this guy. I really like how he looks. Instead of making my own shoulder pads I'm going to go with standard dreadnought leg plates for the rest of the army for the most part. Until next time...

Teleportation Successful

Hey all hope the new year went well. I got some painting done. I decided to paint the snap terminators from the Black Reach box for my deathwing. So here they are

There nothing fancy. What I did do different with this batch is i used a foundation paint brown instead of my normal graveyard earth undercoat for the armor. The Deathwing decals are from the vehicle transfers..

A little rant on the deathwing transfer. Games Workshop really needs to make a new decal sheet with these on it. The Deathwing symbol only is available on a vehicle sheet and there is only one on it. It is not like these are an obscure decal or something. But its all good as they did make terminator pads for the deathwing.

Space Hulk bases

Here is a group shot of my Deathwing with the teleport homer. I don't have any WIP shots of how I did it but as per request I will do a little how to on how I made the bases including how I painted them.




I got my idea from Games Workshop's Space Hulk terrain article. But when I looked around I did not have any crochet sheets around unless I went out and bought them. I did however find window and door screening and I went with that. I went with plastic screening but i would imagine the metal would work also if not be a little more stubborn to work with.

using a very light spread of PVA glue I glued the bases to the sheet and then after letting it dry I cut and clipped the screen around the bases until it was essentially flush with the side of the base. I then glued down plasticard and some little tube things I had right on top of the screen.

For painting I have the entire thing a base coat of black. I then drybrushed the screen and anything else I wanted with bolt gun metal. For the yellow I used Iyanden Dark Sun foundation because I liked the dull yellow color but that is up to the person. I then dry brushed bestial brown to age parts of the screen and other metal parts I wanted aged. I then used the new citadel washes to complete the base.

I washed Devlan mud over the aged rusted areas sloppily so it went over onto non aged areas. After that dried i washed the entire base with badab black including the yellow parts to give it a grimed aged derelict look.

Teleport Homer

Hey all I know its nothing special but I was working on rebasing the small amount of Deathwing I have to spice up my miniature painting and making. I like to do a variety of things at once to keep everything interesting because as we all know the same thing regardless of what it is gets boring after a while. So I figured Id show a use for the small square bases:

Its a humble teleport homer. Its based in the same style as my deathwing will all be. A space hulk/ ship basing. Its nothing fancy. But instead of using the circle bases they supply I decided to use a small square base and save the circle bases until i need to use them for markers. I will post a group shot with some deathwing at some point in the future.

Just a quick update. I am working on a second crusade era Thousand Son Terminator. Tonight ill pick up the High Elf archer box for bits as long as the Local Gaming store has them in stock. If not there is another local store I can check it for tomorrow. Once I get the box ill do a short tutorial on how I do my Thousand Sons heads.
